What is Epoxy Pipe Coating?
Epoxy Pipe Coating (also known as brush coating or spray lining) is a NoDig method of pipe rehabilitation where the inside of the pipe is coated with a two-component epoxy resin. The result is a new, smooth surface that protects the pipe from corrosion and leaks โ all without digging.
๐ฏ When to Use Epoxy Coating?
- Old metal pipes with corrosion
- Pipes with minor cracks or leaking joints
- Pipes under floors, in walls, or hard-to-access locations
- Renovations where you want to avoid demolition
- Preventive protection of new installations
The Process
- Camera inspection โ assess pipe condition and locate problems
- Cleaning โ pipe is thoroughly cleaned using high-speed method
- Drying โ pipe must be dry for good epoxy adhesion
- Epoxy application โ two-component epoxy applied by brushes or spraying
- Curing โ epoxy hardens (usually 2-4 hours)
- Final inspection โ camera confirms coating quality
Epoxy Coating or CIPP Relining?
Besides epoxy coating, trenchless rehabilitation also uses the CIPP method (cured-in-place pipe) โ relining with a resin-saturated liner that forms a completely new pipe inside the old one. CIPP suits longer runs of larger diameters but requires more expensive equipment and access space. Epoxy coating (brush and spray application) is applied directly to the cleaned pipe wall, making it ideal for smaller diameters, vertical stacks and localised damage โ the method Nodig equipment is specialised for.

Common Problems and Solutions
- Epoxy doesn't stick โ pipe not clean or dry enough
- Uneven application โ check brush and pipe diameter compatibility
Conclusion
Epoxy Pipe Coating is a smart alternative to expensive pipe replacement. With the right equipment and technique, you can rehabilitate pipelines for a fraction of the cost and time โ with 50+ years warranty.
