A chain knocker is a rotating chain head mounted on a flexshaft cable. Spun at high speed, the chains scour the entire inner wall of the pipe, removing scale, hard deposits and roots — a method known as pipe descaling.

Smooth chains without teeth (Cyclone chains for PVC) clean plastic pipes without damaging the wall. Chains with teeth are intended for cast iron and concrete pipes.
